The Crew

The team

Everyone who works for Earthrace Conservation is an unpaid volunteer, giving their time and skills to us because they believe passionately in the protection of marine life and in the aims of the organisation.

No office costs
Earthrace has a 'virtual offce' with the team spanning several different time zones. Thanks to Sir Tim Berners-Lee for inventing the system that enables us to run Earthrace with almost no office costs. And we use Skype - a lot!

Earthrace Conservation began to really take shape with a small number of individuals who jumped on board enthusiastically right at the start to help Pete get it up and running. They have become its 'core crew' and this organisation wouldn't function without them.

There is now an Executive Board which looks at the overall agenda and coordinate activities between everyone on the crew.

Within the core crew are the Operations Directors who are based in different places around the world from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa to Europe, the US and Latin America. They handle logistics for our main location specific missions, support our global and national campaigns, and open doors for us to work with other individuals and groups within those areas whose activies are aligned with those of Earthrace Conservation.

They work closely with an even bigger group of crew members, our Chapter Directors, who have taken on the responsibility of starting local ECO Chapters all over the world, backing up what we're up to globally whilst also focusing on issues in their own backyards. As well as running their own campaigns, they work with existing local groups and connect with local people to spread awareness and education about marine conservation.
